The National Meteorological Service (SMN) forecasts contrasting weather conditions for Thursday, May 8, 2025, in the Valley of Mexico. A combination of intense heat, cloudy skies, rain, and the possibility of hail and electrical discharges in various areas of the region is expected, which could lead to flooding, slow traffic, and impacts in vulnerable areas.

Despite the rain, the heat wave will persist in the region, resulting in a warm to hot environment during the day. In the morning, partially cloudy skies with a generally mild atmosphere are expected, although the climate in the higher areas of the State of Mexico will be cold to cool.

As the day progresses, an increase in cloudiness is anticipated, especially in the afternoon, leading to rain and showers in Mexico City with accumulations between 5 and 25 millimeters in 24 hours. In the State of Mexico, the precipitation could be more intense, with isolated heavy rains between 25 and 50 millimeters, accompanied by electrical discharges and possible hail.

The maximum temperature for the capital of the country is estimated to be between 28 and 30 °C, while the minimum will be between 15 and 17. As for the wind, it is expected to be variable in direction with speeds of 10 to 20 kilometers per hour, and gusts that could reach between 30 and 50 kilometers per hour, which could generate dust storms or falling branches in some areas.

The SMN advised the population to take preventive measures against high temperatures, such as staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged sun exposure, and using sunscreen. In case of intense rain or electrical storms, it is suggested to seek shelter in safe places and avoid crossing streets or avenues with flowing water.
